Privacy Policy
Andamos helps you plan, track and remember trips with the people you travel with. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. The short version: we use your information to run Andamos, we don’t sell it, and we don’t show ads.
Who we are
Andamos (“Andamos”, “we”, “us”) runs the app at andamos.app. If you have a question about this policy or your data, email hello@andamos.app or use Profile → Report a problem in the app.
What we collect
Account information. Your email address, the name you choose to show, and a profile photo if you add one. We use your email to sign you in and to send messages about your account.
Trip content. Everything you and your group add to a trip: destinations and dates, stops and plans, saved places, polls and votes, packing lists, expenses and receipts, documents in your wallet (like tickets and booking confirmations), journal entries and memories, photos, comments and reactions.
Location, if you allow it. Some features can use your device’s location, for example to show where you are on the trip map. Your browser or phone asks for permission first, and you can say no or turn it off at any time in your settings. Andamos works without it. If you save a place or a stop, its location is stored as part of that trip’s content.
Notifications. If you turn on reminders, your browser gives us a push subscription (a technical address for sending notifications to that device). We store it so we can send you trip reminders and updates. You can turn notifications off in Andamos or in your browser.
Basic technical data. Like most websites, our hosting and database providers process things like IP addresses, browser type and request logs to deliver the service, keep it secure and fix problems. We use cookies only to keep you signed in and remember your language. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Private and shared items
A trip is shared with the people who are members of it. Most things you add to a trip, like stops, polls, expenses and journal entries, are visible to everyone on that trip.
Some things can be kept private. Private memories and private documents are visible only to you, the person who added them. Other trip members, including the organizer, can’t see them.
Public recap links
You can create a public link to a trip recap. Anyone with that link can see the recap, including the content shared in it, such as the trip name, places, photos and highlights. Private items are never included. You can turn the link off at any time, and it stops working right away.
How we use your information
- To provide Andamos: store your trips, sync them across your devices and share them with the people you invite.
- To run the features you use, like maps, drive times, weather, currency conversion, reminders and importing bookings.
- To keep accounts and the service secure, prevent abuse and fix bugs.
- To contact you about your account, security, or important changes to Andamos.
We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t show ads, and we don’t share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run Andamos. They process data on our behalf, only to provide their service to us.
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and file storage (including photos, receipts and documents).
- Vercel hosts the app. AI features, such as reading a booking confirmation or scanning a receipt, run through the Vercel AI Gateway using models from Anthropic. Only the content you choose to send to these features is processed, for example the confirmation or receipt you upload. It’s used to produce the result for you.
- OpenStreetMap and Photon provide map tiles and place search. When you search for a place, the search text is sent to them.
- Open-Meteo provides weather forecasts for trip locations and dates.
- OSRM calculates routes and drive times between stops.
- open.er-api.com provides currency exchange rates.
- Browser push services (run by your browser or phone maker, such as Apple, Google or Mozilla) deliver notifications if you turn them on.
For maps, places, weather, routes and exchange rates, we send only what’s needed to answer the request, such as a place name, coordinates, dates or a currency. We don’t send your name or email to these services.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
Your choices and rights
- See and edit. You can view and change your profile and trip content in the app at any time.
- Download your data. Go to Profile → Download my data to get a copy of your information.
- Delete your account. Go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, memories, comments, reactions, votes, private documents, saved places and personal packing items. Trips you organize pass to the next member, or, if you’re the only one on a trip, the trip is deleted along with its files. Shared expenses and stops you added stay in the trip so the group’s totals still add up, and show “Former member” instead of your name. If a trip is deleted, its public recap link stops working.
- Turn things off. You can turn off notifications, location access and public recap links whenever you like.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights, such as asking us to correct or restrict use of your information. Email hello@andamos.app or use Profile → Report a problem, and we’ll help.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete something, it’s removed from the app, and when you delete your account, we delete your personal information as described above. Shared expenses and stops you added to a group trip stay in that trip so everyone else’s records still add up, but they show “Former member” and are no longer linked to your account. Copies in backups and logs are removed as those roll over on their regular schedule.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls in our database so people only see the trips they belong to, and reputable providers to store your data. No service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong password and let us know if you notice anything wrong.
Children
Andamos is not for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
International users
Andamos is run from the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using Andamos, you understand your information may be processed outside your country.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. See also our Terms of Service.
